The Greatly Camouflaged Great Horned Owl!

This bird I found on an old farm yard.. Had a bugger of a time picking it out, even when I had just seen it land!



This Lighter option has been hanging around the neighbours yard.. blends right in to the bark!!!

New Birds #168, 169 and 170!!!

I was sitting out in the garden, and heard some unusual calls.. Look up to find Whooping Cranes flying overhead!!


Was in an old yard and spotted this well hidden guy.. was told it was a Fox Sparrow!!


And this Gray Cheeked Thrush, I spotted while doing a cruise of a friend in towns yard.. she gets all kinds of Pretties!

Non Birds - Frogs and Bugs and Rats Oh My!

While I love taking pictures of birds (have you noticed?) Lately I have been seeing some different things.. Such as frogs!


and a slightly lighter option...

Tonights Visitor - Ruby Throated Hummingbird

Had this beautiful guy come to the new feeders tonight.. stopped for a long few drinks, left, and then came back for a second time!! Belly was right full!

Went to the cement slab, and was able to get some great shots of the water rushing and gathering around it!!

Sandhill Cranes! May 1...

On May 1, I got a phone call.. Sandhill Cranes in a nearby field!  So, off I go, and discover a good 45+ of them! Quite far out, but I did manage to get a few shots..



Of Course, most of the ones I got good, had them in the Butt Up, Head Down position.. not very lovely to photograph!

End of April Birds


As April Draws to a Close,  our winter favorites have stuck around a bit longer then usual, and a couple new faces decided to make an appearance!

Mr Pheasant came back for a visit.. Him and the Mrs spent the winter in the bull pen, and now that it is warming up, they seem to be around the house almost daily! Time to put out their food again!



Redpolls have stuck around for quite awhile..


Dark Eyed Juncos have made an appearance..

And our yearly group of Killdeer have shown back up!!

New Birds #166, 167

Went out to Kenosee on April 27th, and Managed to Spot 2 new birds!
First was a Pair of Evening Grosbeaks


Next, was a fast flying pair of Common Merganser!!

Silly Cats

The cats have really been enjoying the warmer weather.. Silly puss was climbing up a snowbank, and fell face first into the puddle on the other side.. Hilarious faces he made!

Kenosee April 27th

Went out to take pictures in Kenosee on April 27th..  Some of my Fav shots of a couple of the 30+ Birds I spotted...
Starting with, the beautiful Evening Grosbeak!

Spotted this little squirrel well camouflaged in a tree...


A Lovely Hairy Woodpecker landed on a tree right in front of me!

Sights around Estevan - April 25
